Memory Care Program

Memory care is the term for a long-term care option for patients who have been diagnosed with such conditions or have problems with at least two areas of daily living (ADLs). A memory care environment is designed for persons with a level of impairment making it unsafe for him or her to continue to stay at home, but who does not require the intensive care of a skilled nursing facility. Memory care allows a person experiencing memory loss to maintain a level of independence while relying on the safety and security of being in a residential facility with a professional staff.

Palm View’s memory care unit is warm and inviting and if you were to ask some of the caring families they would probably say it’s like having an extension of their loved one’s family. The unit at Palm View is a 25 unit secured area that specializes in caring for residents with dementia at different stages. These residents are cared for by 2 CNA’s and a licensed nurse 24 hours a day on all 3 shifts. The activities are specialized for the resident with dementia to maintain their quality of life. Residents are free to wander on the unit or into the secured court yard area to enjoy the wonderful Arizona weather. Residents are chemically and restraint free. These residents have a medical follow up with their primary care physician on a regular schedule. Resident families or responsible parties are free to visit or take residents on outings 7 days a week and the facility has a 24 hour visitation policy. Meals and activities are enjoyed by the residents on the unit who are unable to cope with the high stimulus of other residents on the general units.
